Overview: The American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid Course
Class size: 6:1 Student: instructor ratio
The American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies, and Injury Emergencies.
AHA CPR current certification preferred
Participants will have to read information before the class (to be sent to each participant by the Registrar), so you must register on or before April 14th.
How to Get Ready
What to Wear
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. If you have any physical conditions that might prevent these activities, please tell one of the instructors. The instructor may be able to adjust the equipment if you have back, knee, or hip problems.
Cost: $15 (includes all supplies and certification costs) Over half what you would pay through other sources.
NSPN member Lisa Macdougall has volunteered her time to NSPN to teach this course. All fees cover only the actual costs of participating in this course. Lisa is a Critical Care Nurse and has been a AHA CPR / First Aid instructor for 17 years.
