I am planning a padde to the Boston Outer Islands this Friday August 7, 2026. In the water at 9:30 AM
NOAA is forecasting WSW wind around 6 kt becoming SSW in the afternoon. A chance of showers after 3pm. Seas around 1 ft. at 10 seconds. Low tide at Deer Island is at 1:25 PM. This trip will be around 14 nautical miles in length, with exposed ocean portions, crossing a busy shipping lane, currents of 1.5 knots or less, and rocky beach landings. I will be launching at 9:30 AM from the Winthrop Boat Ramp, 42º22.04'N, 70º58.29'W. You will find a potential route (subject to conversations and reality) here
Level: 3. NSPN. Tone: support each other, stay together. Conservative decisions.
Should be comfortable with wind, waves and boat traffic. Bring: Water & lunch, snacks, extra clothing, etc.
If you are interested in joining this paddle, RSVP and sign up here. You must be a NSPN member.
