Hermit island paddling weekendHermit Island Paddling weekend
A new early-June trip exploring an interesting bit of the Maine coastline
This trip will be based out of Hermit Island campground - a nice looking site, right on the shore
The plan in:- Drive up Friday night - car camping
day paddles Saturday & Sunday, drive home Sunday
The campsite is right on an interesting bit of shoreline so there's a short carry to the put-in.
Alternatively there are other options nearby (Popham beach for example)
http://hermitisland.com/
no reservations are needed. The campground fee is $43 per site per night. Payment is due upon arrival. They allow 2 adults per site
Also, Importantly, You should know that, despite the name, Hermit island doesn't have a hermit and isn't an island
PM me if you'd like to come

Chebacco Lake practice sessionsThis event began 05/31/2018 and repeats every week on Thursday for 13 occurrences
Come join us at Chebacco Lake in Hamilton on Thursdays at 5pm. Practice strokes, rolls, rescues, falling out of your boat, or just watching kingfishers. Dress for immersion. A wetsuit is warm enough, and keeps down the bruises from climbing back into your boat ten times a night.
We meet at the boat ramp at the south end of the lake, and hang out in the cove to the left of the ramp. You can either get off 128 at Pine st (exit 16) and head north on the dirt road, or find Chebacco road off Rt 22 in Essex and avoid the dirt. No entrance fees. No rangers to kick us out at the end of the evening, but the mosquitoes do the job just fine.
