Posted November 29, 201212 yr This old Sea Kayaker article contains excellent forward-stroke tutorials by three experts. Notice the main difference between Brent Reitz’s forward stroke and Greg Barton’s (Brent recommends pushing the top hand with a bent elbow and Greg doesn’t). A compromise between the two seems to work best for me. But most of the racers that I know don't use the bent elbow push (the "chicken wing thing"). - Leon

I know that I thought that my forward stroke was much different then I saw it on video.... Since then I have worked on it a lot and it's about time to have someone film it again. -Jason

You learn a lot but it can be depressing.
