Suz Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Kayaking makes it to Good Morning America. Here is a clip about a Kokatat athlete, Jesse Coombs who went over a waterfall. Quite interesting to see how they filmed it. The filming looks to be just as dangerous as the kayaking.Short Clip:http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/man-plunges-100-feet-waterfall-canoe-14582807GMA Interview:http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/daredevil-kayaker-conquers-massive-waterfall-14596528 Quote

But the guy before him blew out his knees and the one after him broke his back. Guess that makes it a success. He says he has something new up his sleeve. Couple more like this and he'll have great memories as he lies in bed at age 34, unable to feed himself, much less kayak. Darwin award to him! Quote

Brian Nystrom Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I really dislike this stuff, as it creates a grossly distorted perception of what kayaking is in the minds of the general public. What's worse is that this is what makes headlines, along with kayaker rescues and deaths. It would be really nice if GMA or other national shows would do stories that highlight the beauty of kayaking coastal waters, rather than this adrenalin-junkie stuff. Quote
