There is a race some place in NE every weekend. The major interest in NE is Marathon Flatwater.

There are often shorter races for sea kayaks, but the majority are in carbon racing C-2's and C-1's and a few ICF K-1's and Bushnell's. This type of racing has nothing to do with sea kayaking so that's why I stopped posting these on this site.

There is also a Whitewater Slalom Series thru NE, and a series of flatwater ICF Sprints ( 200, 500, 1000 meter ) for K-1, K-2 and K-4's at Harriman State Park, NY. So if you're 10/15 years old and want to go to the Olympics some day, start with these races, and then move to GA to train for Sprints and NC to train for Slalom.

and for those a little futher north:

Maine has it's own schedule (which often overlaps Neckra's) and point series.

Again, a lot of C1 and C2 boats, but sea/touring/racing/sprint kayaks have been present at all the races I've attended. Mackro folks are very welcoming and friendly - as are all the racing paddlers I've met.
