In case you missed it before, here is another chance to see the final version.

Over 60 films in 33 days. And next Wednesday, October 1st is just the start of a 7 month odyssey during which we, the newly formed, newly equipped Cape Ann Community Cinema will bring to you some of the best independent and foreign films we can get our butter-streaked hands on. And it's right here on Cape Ann in a venue you probably already know -- The Gloucester Stage Company's home at the Gorton Theater at 267 East Main Street in Gloucester.

You can dive right into the line-up at our website at www.CapeAnnCinema.com, or you can read on for some of the highlights. Whichever way you choose to explore our humble fest, there's a whole lot of enriching, enlightening and entertaining film fare to be found. Presented in marathon fashion from October 1 to November 2 (as The First Hopefully Annual Boston North Shore Film Festival), the daily parade of local, independent and foreign films is just the beginning of a season that will bring a variety of new films to Cape Ann and the North Shore 4-5 days a week through the end of the CACC's season in May 2009.

Our October 1st opening night film, Row Hard No Excuses, is about two men who raced across the Atlantic in a boat they built in Essex. One of the men, Tom Mailhot, will be on hand to talk with the audience, as will producer Bill Wolbach. Before the film, the local choral group Three Sheets To The Wind will perform a selection of (family-friendly) sea shanties.

I saw this film last year in the Essex Ship Building Museum. I really enjoyed it and thought it was worth seeing.
