Guest _rick
Sunday 8 Oct my 11 year old daughter and I managed launch off clammer's beach in Essex. She was so excited to go kayaking with dad. While I got the kayaks off the pickup she got all the gear in the boats and watched all of you depart on the SNG. We practiced some current work as we headed over to the island. Ferrying turned into something we need to work on a little. As we rounded the confines of the island in its relative protection the nature exploring started. Jen started to watch the ducks on shore as well as the baby lobsters and crabs underneath us. We took a break by the COnomo point mooring area where the periwinkles joined the trek. Of course by now the tow line was firmly affixed as the tide was proving to tire out my daughter. 5 miles on her second saltwater venture. Of course the father daughter time was priceless. Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Rick, I don't recall seeing out on the beach. Did we just miss the both of you? Nice trip report by the way. What were your daughter's sentiments on kayaking?
Guest _rick
Kevin, Well you were all at the put in at clammer's just off the beach. I had a grey dodge truck with a bright yellow 10 foot and a red 15 ft. Jen simply adores the water. Of course she didnt like the current one bit. With no skeg or rudder we both work on control. She wanted to go out and watch on the point but knowing what the return would be and the likelihood that I would have to tow, the decision was to round the island instead. Jen has incredible upper body strength because of her sports interests, learning economy of stroke is taking a little longer because "dad..you dont know..." She absolutely loves paddling her own boat. She was reminding me to make sure I brought the paddle float too. We were not too happy with the power boat wakes coming at inopportune times.
