Guest _rick
Took a little trip to test my daughter's lobo. Launched at the Plum Island Bridge. For those that dont remember the wind was out of the SW in the early afternoon and a reasonable chop. Paddling was difficult if you went straight down the bore of the wind. I had to re-adjust my pegs and dig in and hug the shore when I could since I was trying for the top of the Rowley. Interesting ....just north of pork island (well grassy spot) the current goes the otherway for those that may be interested in tide switches. When I wasnt contemplating wind I saw 4 blue heron and 5 of those white birds (cranes I think) and lots of fish!! . The rain came and created a little bit of a situation with the wind shift. I thought I could have the wind at my back on the return but it changed. So much for relaxing on the return.
Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Rick, Welcome to the board! That area was my old training ground and when the current and wind are both against you, it isn't much fun. By the way, what is a "lobo"? Guest _rick
Thanks for the greeting. Lobo means grey wolf in spanish. In Kayakeese it should be short rec boat (sail) with fat guy on top. Or full displacement kayak....
