rick stoehrer Posted June 13, 2005 Share Posted June 13, 2005 janis' new boat today...explorer LV - orange/orange w/white hull with modified bulkhead placement...beautiful boat suited to a beautiful woman (although i admit to SOME bias on this issue...) after a brief launch ceremony (hers i believe cited many years of growing together and a prayer that each launch be followed by a landing; boat and paddler together) and a dram of bruichladdie, we set off into the dead low of plum island sound this morning...and it was flat, flat, flat...not much at all going on... but the boat was launched and as the tide came in over the flats off the point, we sat in the little bumps and plades in what we could. while ciro and i rolled and sculled and high braced and other such nonsense, janis just rode the little waves forward against the tide and over into the flats....she sat in that boat like she was born to it...very well seated she is...(pun intended - ha) we eventually broke off and worked on janis' roll in a bit of flat water on the inside of the sound....her roll is coming along nicely despite her protests otherwise and frustration. no name to the new craft yet, she is awaiting inspiration but so far prettiest girl and buttercup have been discussed.
