jonsprag1
Last Saturday, my friend Jim Claus and I paddled from Wadsworth Cove, about one mile north of Dice Head at the entrance to Castine Harbor, down past Cape Rozier to Pond Island about one mile beyond the Cape. We saw a couple of porpoises at the entrane to Castine Harbor as well as numerous seals as we approached Pond. The weather was rainy at the start although the further out we got, the better it became---almost too hot in our farmer johns and paddling jackets. Very light wind with no chop to speak of. Had lunch on Pond, dodged larger boats on the way back to Cape Rozier then an uneventful trip back to Wadsworth Cove with a rest stop at Holbrook Island. Total distance between 14 and 15 nm. Great views of the Camden Hills, the islands of East Penobscot Bay, and Eggemogin Reach.
