Posted August 9, 200618 yr Thinking about circumnavigating Castle Neck Friday now that the GHs are gone, perhaps play in the surf off of Cranes if there is any to be had. Post if interested. ******* Launch at Conomo Point at 8:30am. ***********
August 9, 200618 yr I am planning on paddling fri. am but I have to be off the water by about 12-1pm depending on the put in. Could start real early if interested.........surf?? Would be nice, but it looks flat till late. Paul Sylvester Milton, NH
August 9, 200618 yr Author Paul, I don't mind going early. High tide is slated for 1:30pm, so we'd have to plan accordingly.
August 10, 200618 yr 8am too early? Can you go around CN that early? If not , name the spot and I'll be there. Just have to work within my time constraints and stay between Ipswich and York. Thanks, Paul
August 10, 200618 yr Author Paul, 8am is not too early for me, but we wouldn't be able to get through Fox Creek since low tide is at 7:30am. It's not passable +/- 2 hours around low tide. We could do I would think if we reverse direction and paddle along Cranes first.
August 10, 200618 yr "Just a friendly reminder." Power boaters are runnung this area at full tilt. Friday is the start of the weekend. Traffic should be high. There are no "Slow. No wake." signs coming from Ipswich River side. I was through there at high tide on Wednesday 8-11-06 and would have been run over in Fox Creek straight away if I had not paddled up on the marsh. My colorful paddle blade did nothing to get there attention. I would suggest going through between the 2nd and 3rd hour of the tide. This way there is not enough water for the power boaters. The marsh grass is very high this time of year. I was taking a newbie around. She loved it never the less. One other tid bit. The swimming area has been increased on the Ipswich River side. It is marked. Greenheads are not completely gone. You will encounter some in Fox Creek for sure. Please make a hardy donation so that the next time I go through they are full. I think that's Rob's job, since he doesn't seem to mind them;) Seriously, thanks for the input. Are you up for the paddle? Haven't seen you in a while....
August 10, 200618 yr Name the put in and I will be there, 8 am put in. What is the milage around? Don't have a chart handy...... Paul plmsl@worldpathdotnet
