Bill Lord
I have a bad corrosion problem with the zippers on my deck bag and first aid bag. Dee mentioned zipper wax as an item to carry in an emergency kit. REI does not carry it but suggested using parafin or ski wax. I just want to use the best substance to prevent salt water damage without making a mess of my bags. Anyone know of a good product? Thanks,Bill

Suz
Pure Beeswax works too. Most local hardware stores carry this somewhere near the register. Wouldn't begin to figure where the big box stores would put such a small item. Usually sold in small blocks about the size of a finger. On the zips, if aluminum, it is a never ending battle. I try to avoid zips around salt water unless they are plastic or stainless steel. Might want to consider switching the first aid kit into a nalgene bottle or a dry bag. As for the deck bag, shame on the maker for not using a better zip.Suz
Brian Nystrom
...check out local archery shops. There are silicone-based bowstring waxes that work well on zippers, too. That's what I've been using since I started paddling.
