Cape Ann circumnavigation

Recommended Posts

I am planning on doing my first circumnavigaion of Cape Ann, I've read the tips from Tamsin Venns' book Sea kayaking alonmg the New England coast. Does anyone have any good info for a first timer like myself. My first Question would be what is the best tide to depart in from the Glouster High school or is there a better starting point.

Going clockwise, depart from the High School about 2 hours after high tide (Annisquam Light time) for a good assist from the outgoing tide current for the first 3 miles. Try to avoid having to fight the incoming tide in the Annisquam river.

Have fun!
