Posted September 11, 2024Sep 11 Meet at the Deer Island visitor parking lot at 11:00 a.m. for an 11:30 launch. We'll paddle from there to any one of the outer harbor islands. We have two shipping channel transits to make on the way out and back - the Salem fast ferry also uses this route. The outer harbor islands are uninhabited, eerie, mysterious, remote. This was in the past a frequent NSPN trip that typically involved landing at the Graves. But now that the lighthouse is under private ownership, kayakers can no longer land there. Limited to 4 paddlers with open water skills, a willingness to make channel crossings in a tight, visible pod, and the ability to manage island landings on stony beaches. If you're interested, please send me a DM. A screen shot of the landing options at one of the islands -- Green -- is attached. Edited September 11, 2024Sep 11 by Bolonsky Adam typos
