Bob H
Last Minute Paddle - explore the coastline towards Gloucester Tuesday September 10th West Beach - Beverly MA 10:00 AM Arrival 10:30 AM Launch Forecast is looking great for a level 2 paddle from West Beach in Beverly on Tuesday, Sep 10th. Geri and I are planning on a 10 AM arrival for a 10:30 AM launch. Expect to be off the water by 4:30 PM Actual paddle will depend on the conditions we see when we arrive and a group decision, but tentative plan is to explore the coastline towards Gloucester Harbor with lunch at White Beach, with a possible stop at Great Misery depending on the groups desire. Trip will be 8 - 10 NM . Marine forecast as of 10 AM Sunday is for wind from the NW around 6 kt dropping during the paddle. Seas 1 to 2 ft. Bright sunshine all day. In other words - a perfect day to be on the water. Group limit of 8 paddlers. Parking at West Beach is free and open to non-residents after Labor Day. Let us know if you are interested in joining us by responding to this post and sending us your contact/car/boat details in a PM for the float plan. Happy Paddling....... Bolonsky Adam
Thanks, Bob. Count me in. I'd be up for landing at Misery if that works for everyone. Yvonne is sick so can't make it.
Joseph Berkovitz
It should be a perfect day and I would join if it weren’t for a midday dental appointment 🥲 I might show up just to say hello if that works out.

Barbara Ryan
It WAS a perfect day and we had a terrific paddle to I believe White beach for a lunch stop with fun sharings, then back to drop Prudence and Fred back at West Beach and then Geri, Bob, Adam and I continued over to go around Great Misery, thru the gut and land for a lovely exploration of GM and the ruins. I hadn't been on the island since last summe and was so sad to see that the gorgeous ancient Oak tree I was so enamored of had been toppled by a storm- along with several others. The island is still beautiful and we saw either one deer 3 times of 3 deer. We are told there are at least 6 deer there now. The ruins are so interesting! Here is a link to some really nice photos of what it once looked like when it had the Casino and other buildings. https://streetsofsalem.com/2017/06/27/the-lost-bungalows-of-great-misery-island/ We did paddle over to Bakers and explored the cliffs below the lighthouse but we were not in the mood to provoke the Baker's Island You are not Welcome committee this time (tho we may or may not have fantasized some fun pranks 😉 We did miss seeing you Joe and Jody. We were a good team and hope that we all, and more friends, will be paddling together soon! Tis the best paddling season I think!
