Casco Bay, last minute camping trip

Looking at a nice weather window, I am off to kayak and camp in Casco Bay tomorrow Wednesday until Friday (Sept 4-6). If you are interested in joining, PM me instead of replying below.

The minimal skills required for this trip include wet exit, self and assisted rescue, and experience in ocean paddling with conditions of wind up to 18K, waves to 2 to 3 feet, and crossings up to 3.0 NM. Of course, camping stuff and an ocean kayak.

In past trips I have launched from Cousins, Mere Point and Dolphin. This time I would like to try something new, perhaps launching from Bug Light as I would like to explore the southern area.

If you have recommendations about Bug Light as a launching and overnight parking spot (or another put-in towards Cape Elizabeth), I would appreciate them. Thanks!

Hey Ricardo,

Bug Light (Portland Breakwater Light), often confused with Spring Point Ledge Light, is a pay parking lot and launch, whereas SMCC (where Spring Point Ledge Light is) is free and has overnight parking. I think you may have meant SMCC but just want to save you any hassle if you didn't know that.

Here's a map pin to the parking lot at SMCC:
