glad
Hello all - and welcome to the update post for the Women's paddle. Lorrie Allen and I will lead a level 2 and + trip on Sunday August 18. We will have a combination of known paddlers and would like support more beginner women to join. If we haven't paddled together, please tell me about your paddling experience in the signup link. Proper boats with bulkheads, deck lines, etc are required. We will meet at 10 and plan to put in at 1030. Please allocate extra time if you need it. We will aim for about 8-10 miles and have a leisurely lunch. We can do some basic rescue practice if that is the interest of the group. Depending on conditions, the likely put-in will be North Shore: Lanes Cove or Granite Pier ($12 per day) and limited to 8 women. More details will be forthcoming as we get closer to the date and conditions are known. To register, please express interest here so folks know who's coming and then use the signup link below. Since we are trying to encourage newer and Level 2 paddlers, Lorrie and I may hold some spaces for them up until a few days prior to the event. https://forms.gle/qYVYeErNkE9bFnq6A Edited August 6 by glad clarity and added link for automated signup
kate
Very much looking forward to this. I haven't had much time on the water this year. A low-pressure hang-with-other-women paddling day is just the antidote. Lorrie and Karen are good company, but it would be great to meet some new folks too! Kate

nancysan
Is there still room? I'd like to come if so. I have signed the waiver this year and am an ACA member.
glad
Hello everyone -here is an update. Please fill out the form/link below: https://forms.gle/qYVYeErNkE9bFnq6A Ability to do a wet exit is required. I have paddled with everyone who has expressed an intent to go so you don’t need fill out the paddling experience part of the form. Here are the details: We will meet at the concrete ramp at Lane’s Cove at 10am and launch at 1030am. High tide: Boston Harbor entrance: about 1030a Wind is from the SE at 5-10 but thanks to Ernesto wave hts are 3-5, (this has increased in the last two hours from 2-4). Detail: SE 5 ft at 15 seconds. That is a lot of water! This is why we plan to launch from Lanes where we will be shielded from the swell. If the groups wants, we can venture along the protected ‘lee’ towards Halibut point to see the action. Or we can head towards the Annisquam at high tide. I will be keeping track of the weather, wind direction and sea state. Lorrie and I will make some final decisions on Saturday morning. glad
Hello everyone - This trip is ON! Hooray! The NOAA forecast is below and it has also been confirmed by the detailed Windy Swell 1 and 2 predictions. I tried to attach the Windy detailed wave image but I'm not sure it worked. PLEASE CHECK THIS POSTING TOMORROW MORNING. IF THE SITUATION DEGRADES, I WILL POST OUR DISPOSITION HERE BY 8 am or possibly before. We will be happy to assist any newer or rusty paddlers. It is unlikely, but one prediction showed waves getting a little higher in the afternoon. If so we can always hole up and call an Uber! .SUN...SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 4 seconds and E 2 ft at 16 seconds. Patchy fog in the morning with vsby 1 to 3 NM. 1139F283-F688-4EEF-83F4-CCF73F20718E.heic
eneumeier
If people would like to come back to my house, 1 mile from Lanes Cove, after the paddle for a simple cookout, you are welcome. Karen and I talked about some food plans. The Lanesville package store has a reasonable selection of things... Liz
glad
I’m in for an impromptu cookout. I have some beautiful cucumbers from an anonymous kayaker donor.
Bolonsky Adam
Would a male attached to one of the female participants on this trip but not launching or paddling with the group be allowed at this cookout? Edited August 17 by Bolonsky Adam

nancysan
Hi Karen, I am looking at the overall conditions and air quality has been poor and teetering between poor and fair today. I am all ready to go, so I'll meet you over there and see what I think when I get there.
