Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Ok, I won't use the term "newbie" for the simple reason that I personally don't like it. So for those new to kayaking or for those coming back after a long absence, you can't beat the pool sessions for camaraderie, peer support and practice. I attended almost every session (to the point of it being comical) last year and it was well worth every dollar and second of my time. Don't miss this opportunity! bob budd
Indeed "newbie" commonly carries negative connotations in a field including "greenhorn". "novice" (especially in the form novitiate) carries religious connotations. "abecedarian - a novice learning the rudiments of some subject" places a specific meaning on "novice" and casts the speaker as an educated sort, what with all those syllables. Kevin B (RPS Coach)
We could just use the label "apprentice". Afterall, they would be learning a craft
ccarlson
Uh, actually, they would also be PADDLING a craft ;-)
djlewis
Unless they are making a GP, in which case they are crafting a paddle! (sorry, couldn't resist.)--David.

Kevin B (RPS Coach)
Oh, no offense taken! Perhaps it's just a quirk I have about words that end in "ie"
