gpardi
I would like to take a Meet-Up group of intermediate-level paddlers with sea kayaks on a trip from Parker River down to Plum Island Sound and back. We would launch from Newbury Canoe and Kayak. I'm looking for suggestions as to when to paddle in the tide cycle, where to stop for a break, islands we could visit, etc. I have paddled with some more experienced friends from Pavilion Beach many times and headed over to Crane's and beyond. My concern is if we paddle with the last of the outgoing tide, we'll have lots of low spots as we make our way toward the southern end of Plum Island. I know I've run into low water when launching from Pavilion Beach with an outgoing tide. In the past, I've done paddles from parking lot #1 down Plum Island Sound and then back when the incoming current became too strong to continue. Any ideas/suggestions for a nice, easy paddle when launching from the kayak shop? I have had many years experience guiding on the Merrimack River in Newburyport, so I'm not a newbie.
