gyork
Level 3 trip that especially welcomes new kayak campers, and a reunion for those of us who don't see each other often enough. Here's a great opportunity for you paddlers who would like to try kayak-camping without the pesky bugs (beware of ticks!). This will be the 11th annual trip to Jewell, which has multiple campsite options and latrines. We typically have 10 or more (2016=record of 19!) paddlers, but an upper limit has not been established. The Common Adventure Model (CAM) will be adopted The SUGGESTED itinerary is as follows: FRIDAY: Arrive at _____ (multiple launch site options, with each pod working out details privately via NSPN Messaging) on Friday, May 17, in plenty of time for a ______am launch (HT-1042). If you are new to kayak camping, you may need extra time packing your boat, so plan on arriving no later than _______. SATURDAY: Agenda TBD-bring your ideas for a day paddle or island activities (HT-1134). Prior trips have included Whaleboat/Little Whaleboat, Potts Harbor, Greens, Eagle, Great Diamond geocaching, Jewell's WW1 and WW2 military installations, and general camaraderie/gourmet foods around the camp fire. Rmrand
Gary, Hi. I am not a level 3 paddler, level 2. However, I love to kayak camp. If the weather conditions are more of a level 2 for the weekend I would love to go. Thanks, Romaine

Joseph Berkovitz
I have to be on the road from Jewell back to Boston Saturday AM. So I'm thinking of paddling out to Jewell early, like Wednesday or Thursday, so I can spend Friday night hanging out but not have it be just an overnight trip which always feels like a waste of driving. Is anyone else is interested in going out to Jewell a day or two early. If so, please PM me. Thanks!
Dan Foster
I reserved the REI community room for the Saturday afternoon prior to the Jewell trip, for a workshop on chart prep and trip planning using the upcoming Jewell trip as our focus. There's an option to grab dinner afterwards and talk about plans for Jewell and socialize. This would be an ideal opportunity for anyone who hasn't paddled to Jewell before, or hasn't been as involved in the navigation or trip planning aspects of the weekend, to get together with their fellow paddlers prior to the trip and make plans and answer questions. Hope to see you all there.
