We had camping trips there years ago: infestations of ants, poison ivy and aggressive gulls. But they have done a lot of work to clean it up. http://www.thacherisland.org/campground.html For those interested in trying kayak camping, this could be an accessible way to do it. A (near) full moon night would be fun, such as July 8 or August 5. People who did not want to camp, could just enjoy the full moon paddle. JohnHuth Posted June 3, 2017 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I did not know you could camp there. This is very helpful! I'm trying to plan a Cohasset to Ipswich paddle, and looking for camping spots. The tricky part is Boston Harbor to Cape Ann - will need to find some place near Marblehead, but don't know of camp grounds around there - may have to AirBnB it.
