  1. My Standard Horizon HX890 VHF radio supports GPS logging. I can download the log data in GPX, KML, or NMEA format to my Windows Computer. Does anyone know of any apps or websites that support plotting the data on a chart? Bonus points if the app or website allows separating by date a log that contains multiple days of paddling into separate dates.
  2. Hi After chewing through several Garmin 76, 78 and such I am fed up with the cost and ultra low reliability. Any experience/suggestions for an Android phone app that will do as much Marine GPS functions as possible. Mostly the on water stuff (route, tracking, heading , waypoints, speed,..) . The planning I can do on my big screen PC. Willing to pay for the right App Regards Pablo deTorres
  3. I've an entry-level Garmin gps, stowed in my day hatch, summoned after decidedly lost in the fog, or in preparation of the next geocache search. Who of you are using electronic nav-aids (gps, smartphone app, etc)? under what circumstances? gary
  4. Hi, We are looking to buy a waterproof handheld GPS unit to bring on kayaking trips for logging purposes mainly. There are so many options which is why we are posting it here. What we are looking for is a unit with good battery time (color screen not needed) and the possibility to generate images on the computer with a map overlay that shows our trips. I don't know if the GPS units come with software for this or if that is software you buy separately. What GPS units/softwares are you using for these purposes? Any input in this matter is welcome! PS We used to paddle (and post on these boards) many eons ago and we just recently started paddling again. It feels great!
