  1. We are NaviTour, a one-stop platform connecting travelers to authentic and exciting experiences delivered by local experts who enjoy sharing all Maine has to offer. We have experiences on everything from craft beer and food to art and history to hiking and sea kayaking! If you are a Registered Maine Guide or willing to become one you can lead kayaking tours and be paid to do so. If this is something that sounds interesting to you check out our website at NaviTour.com, shoot us an email at info@navitour.com, or give us a call at (207) 200-5149.
  2. Join the Maine Island Trail Association on March 18th at 7:00 pm to welcome Steve Callahan, whose 76-day drift on the Atlantic in a life raft not only inspired him to write a best selling novel, but also continue to spend a lifetime on the water. Come learn about his "aquatic caveman" experience, as well as other stories of survival, where his experiences have brought him since, and how the coast of Maine factored into all of this. This event will be hosted online and will be recorded for future viewing. Registration is required. You can do so here!
  3. Dear all, Please join Maine Island Trail Association Executive Director Doug Welch for his upcoming presentation at Newbury Kayak and Canoe. Doug will share what the Trail has meant to him over the course of his life, including highlights from his recent two-week trip island-hopping up and down the Maine coast. We'll also serve a few snacks and some delicious Maine Island Trail Ale from Portland's Rising Tide Brewing Company, on us! Maine Island Trail and Ale! Wednesday, September 24, 2014 6:30 PM at Newbury Kayak and Canoe Please RSVP if you would like to join us, either by email at jphillips@mita.org or via direct telephone line, 207-699-4373. I hope to see you there! Sincerely, Jack Phillips, Maine Island Trail Association
  4. Has the 50 degree weather started you thinking about the upcoming season? Well get out your calendars because below are a slew of trips to participate in this season. This is just the beginning of a list to get everyone started - you'll see official postings on all of these by the organizers over the coming months and definitely many more trips added as the weather warms. Feel free to post trips at any time and I'll keep this Master List updated. If you already have trips planned that you would welcome others to join, pm me and I'll be happy to add to this list. Then post to the calendar and the message board when you're ready. REMEMBER when you post a trip to also post it to the calendar - and remember if you cancel a trip or move the date, don't forget to update the calendar and let me know so I may update the master. It's great to have options and paddles might appeal to some and not others. Remember to post if your trip is CAM model or otherwise - we've cross posted some AMC trips in past years that are Leader-led - and it's okay to cross post - again, options are great! Remember to respect MITA guidelines to not discuss private islands in public places - refer to an island as best you can and have people pm you to get more detail
