Fixing rudder cable on Wilderness System Tsunami 140

Hi, My wilderness sytems tsunami if probably about 15 years old, but I still love it! Today may rudder cable system broke. Would it make sense to repair it? I see that their are kits, but do they have to be specific to the kayak? Are there folks out there in eastern MA (or not too far) that do this type of repair or is it jut DIY? Thanks in advance for any insight or advise! Cathy
