2nd Annual Easter Bunny Plunge - April 20, 2014 - Sunday
eburgess replied to cfolster's topic in Past Trips
Well, this sounds like it is turning into the social event of the month, so how can I pass it up? Count me in, too! -
This is a place I would love to paddle - looks beautiful from the pictures I've seem. I won't be able to do it this year because of commitments already in place, but if you are looking for company for the following year, I would be interested.

Thanksgiving Leftovers Paddle : Saturday Nov. 30th Tucks Point, Manchester
eburgess replied to PeterB's topic in Past Trips
Les, I have gone over the fence, and I am backing out. I think that by about 1 pm it might be tolerable, but early in the day it will just be too cold for my comfort level. Hope you all have a good time! -
Thanksgiving Leftovers Paddle : Saturday Nov. 30th Tucks Point, Manchester

Peter, I would like to join you also. Sure beats shopping! -
I love cold weather paddling and stay nice and warm on the water - except for my hands! I tried Glacier Gloves, but the thumb on one of the gloves ripped the first time I wore them when I gently pushed off a rock I got too close too. I was not impressed that they tore so easily. Then I tried NRS Maverick gloves which I like for the fit, but my fingers get really cold. I know some of you use neoprene mittens - do you like them, do they keep your fingers warmer than the gloves, can you roll easily with them, and can you get your sprayskirt on while wearing them? I'd appreciate any input.

Adventures at Fort Gorges and Peaks Island, Saturday August 17, 2013
eburgess replied to prudenceb's topic in Trip Reports
I have been up in Maine being a practice student since our wonderful trip but didn't want to go without saying what a fun paddle it was! We had everything - adventure, high fashion, beautiful scenery, rocks, a little bump, and lots of laughs. Thank you, Cathy, for a wonderful day on the water! I am trying to post pictures, and don't know it this will work or not. If it does, enjoy! If it doesn't, know that I have tried! Liz -

Really sorry, but I am going to have to back out of the paddle due to a couple of unanticipated conflicts. Have a great time!

Count me in!

Peter, Jon, and Blaine, Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedules to present this excellent workshop. I am just starting to understand navigation and am realizing that it is information that is good to hear many times and it is a skill that you can not practice enough. I am looking forward to taking what I learned today out on the water - I will definitely be much more aware of where I am! Liz

Thank you so much for rescheduling this event. I will be there!

I am wimping out, too - at least six inches on the ground and still coming down hard - roads in my area are awful. I'll think of all of you while I'm shoveling!

I am going with the argument that the warm pool water was very theraputic and did wonders for the sore, achy muscles I got from shoveling and snowblowing for five or six hours yesterday. It was just what the doctor ordered!

Hi Rick, I have a spot in the Portsmouth pool session today, but unfortunately have caught the crud that is going around and have been getting worse all weekend. If you want my spot, it's yours. Let me know and we can work out the details. Sorry for the short notice. Liz

I would be interested in venturing out on New Year's Day, too!

I bought my drysuit last winter and decided that this year I would paddle year round as much as possible. When I saw the workshop posted I immediately and enthusiastically signed up and encouraged several friends to sign up, too. Being new to cold water paddling, it was just what we needed to find out about the gear required and get some first hand experience. However as the day drew near and the apprehension grew, I kept wondering, "what the heck was I thinking, and how can I get out of it?" I summoned all my courage, though, suited up, and had a very enjoyable day getting comfortable with my gear and learning a ton! Thank you so much Suz, Scott, and Rick and all of the other seasoned cold water paddlers for taking the time to patiently teach us about dealing with cold conditions and sharing your gear ideas and tips. It was much appreciated!

I would be interested in joining you as well. I would definitely be in for the circumnavigation if conditions allow and will go with whatever the group decides.
-
Gene, Unfortunately, I have to pull out of the paddle - just too many things going on at once these days. Have a great day on the water and I hope to catch you next time. Liz

I'll be joining you too providing conditions stay as forecasted. Liz
