  1. I am thinking of taking some friends on a little paddling voyage in the Annisquam this weekend, but I am unsure what is the best time for a favorable current. I have paddled the Annisquam River during the last three Blackburn Challenges and this year it was great! The current was fantastic! Are there best times of the tide to paddle this river? I'd like to put in at the High School and take out at Lobster Cove, behind the Annisquam Yacht Club. Stew P
  2. I would be interested in paddling out to misery/bakers tomorrow if you feel like going out. I live in MBTS and get out to misery a few times a week. I can meet you at Tuck's in the morning. 978-810-0793 Stew
  3. While we were on Pavilion Beach in Ipswich, there were a 2-3 bites (per person), and while we were lost in the grasses we had a 3-5 more bites (per person). It was tolerable.
  4. Sunday, I was paddling with a group of friends and was assisting someone that was falling behind and before I knew it, we were up a creek with a two-bladed paddle. We puzzled where we were, but the tall grasses made it difficult to see any landmarks. After too many minutes, I pulled out my iPhone, opened up Google Maps and it told me EXACTLY where I was and I used the satellite imagery to get back on track in five minutes. It was great, and I would love to have that kind of thing with a marine GPS unit. Scott, we had passed the Parker Rive, never hugged the left bank, but drifted straight ahead and into... the creek. And, it was beautiful. I have some great pictures! Now, I can recognize THREE places that won't get me to The Black Cow. Stew
  5. I have an Olympus StylusTough 8000. it is EXCELLENT resolution, fast shutter and SUPER DURABLE. I take it with me where ever I go - it is a tank. My second one - first one croaked scuba diving when it took it far too deep. I have some Gorilla Arms that wrap around the deck cords of my kayak and it stays there while I paddle through waves. I highly recommend this camera! Attached is a photo I took this weekend from the deck of my boat. Totally MARVY!!! Stew
  6. I would love to check out Chebacco Skills Sessions, i am pretty sure I know where the put-in place is (most popular boat ramp on chebacco?). I could always use some improvement, especially with learning how to paddle in a group. Mostly a solitary paddler, all my experience is from within 5 miles of the Manchester Harbor by myself. I paddled the Blackburn Race this weekend and finished 15 minutes faster than I did last year and 30 minutes faster than I did the year before that, yet I came in last at a family lake appreciation race (100 yards out, and back) in Eastman, NH. I lost to a child in practically a hollowed-out log. I will try to be there on Thursday evening. Stew
  7. What is the best GPS to paddle with? Every year, I paddle the great marsh from Ipswich to the black cow in Newburyport and I manage to get a little lost in the tall grasses. Usually, it is just a five minute adjustment, but there has got to be a device that actually can lead me along a track. Any suggestions? I was thinking of the Garmin GPSMAP 78S Stew P.
  8. I am a newbie to the group - can I join for a paddle sometime? What is an L2,L3,L4? Is Tucks Point the Manchester Tucks Point? Stew
