  1. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, Pru! Envious of your amazing trip!
  2. The zipper on the Idol is still a work in progress... The overall fit of the suit is more comfortable, and I like being able to put on the top at the last minute and take it off quickly on warmer days. As Suz indicated, it takes some fidgeting to figure out how to line up the zipper, and it needs to be tightened all the way down. Once I figured out both of these things, I've stayed dry. But I learned the hard way and got wet a couple time first...
  3. I am very proud of both of you! And I still want to be President of the Pru and Cathy for 5* Club!
  4. Gene was one of the first people Phil and I met when we joined NSPN. He was always welcoming and kind to us. I'll miss his sharp wit and outspoken nature. RIP.
  5. Karen, I agree you really need to try it on to make sure it fits. Like David, I am a fan of the Sweet Strutter Helmet. It fits me better than any of the other I tried while also providing the best protection...
  6. Phil mentioned seeing or hearing about this article recently, so he may know the source. I prefer the "position of greatest usefulness" philosophy. In general, I prefer to lead from the side or moving back and forth within the group. That being said, there are times when as the leader, you might need to take the lead at the front-to check out a potential hazard, etc... But often it's much easier to see and keep track of the group from the side or even the rear...
  7. Highly recommend doing it with Todd Wright and Carl Ladd if they have one planned. Not sure how others structure, but they typically set up so there's a day of assessing your personal skills, and then the rest of the assessment is teaching practice students (as opposed to your peers/other candidates.). I really like this method since it makes it more authentic.
  8. Congrats! I am so happy for both of you, and Tim Gleason, too. I know how hard you worked to get to this.
  9. Congrats to both Rob and Matt!
  10. Pru, you have such an amazing gift of making the reader feel like they are right by your side on your journeys. So glad you got to enjoy the full Wales experience-one's sense of paddling horizons and perspective can't help but be altered there. Your report bring back great memories and SO makes me want to go back again, and again, and again...
  11. So when did you begin applying the 50/50 rule??? Did moving North prompt that?
  12. Wait-Kate Hartland, since when did the Southern girl who loves to fly down the frozen water begin Winter paddling? 50/50 rule clearly does not qualify as Winter paddling. ?
  13. Note: this weekend retreat will offer two tracks – one for you ladies who have never paddled in bumpy water before, and the other who are familiar with bumpy, lumpy water and wish to take it up a notch or two. For more information and registration, please visit: http://babeswithblades.info/
