  1. Bow and stern are thinning and a chuck is missing from a rock incident. Does anyone know who I could reach out to for repair work? THANKS!!
  2. Hi Does anyone have any insight on this topic? My annual MITA kayak camping trip is being sabotaged by the worst outbreak on record of the Browntail Moth Caterpillars. Their airborne toxic hairs cause skin rash when they come in contact with skin or respiratory distress if breathed in. The ranger on Warren Island has already reported campers with rashes. https://bangordailynews.com/2021/06/11/news/bangor/browntail-moth-caterpillars-are-terrorizing-bangor/ Thanks Betty
  3. Someone asked me if this adults only or can they bring their children too?
  4. I love Warren Island - a yearly camping trip in July. We like site 4 for kayak camping. A rocky beach with slippery seaweed at low tide (we book camping based on tides). bioluminescents were crazy good last year. I suggest going during the new moon phase to enjoy the show.
  5. Another Great Workshop, Thanks Suz. Scott successfully replaced his wrist gasket on Sunday and I just replaced my neck gasket tonight. It went pretty well, only put my arm in the aquaseal once lol. The forms and clamps make it really easy to do.
  6. See you tonight!
  7. Santa brought 2 replacement Kokatat neck gaskets and now we need to get them done if we want to paddle anytime soon. Suz Hutchinson told me she'd be willing to do a workshop and demo if we get 10 attendees. Since Scott and I will attending, we only need 8 more. Is anyone else interested in seeing a demo for gasket replacement and learning how to care for your dry suit? I attended one of Suz's workshops a few years ago and it was very informative.
  8. I never got into using Pogies. A fellow paddler turned me onto the idea of using playtex gloves under neoprene paddling gloves. Just don't tuck them under the sleeve gasket of your dry suit or you may have a wet arm like I did last weekend. For the most part, the rubbergloves keep my fingers toastie. Some winter paddles the cold gets to my fingers no matter what I do but this way my hands are at least dry. that's my 2 cents
  9. Your misspell above makes me think we are paddling to Guinness beach, I'M ALL FOR THAT lol!!!!
  10. Mr & Mrs Lafrance are planning on attending this paddle. We both need to work out the kinks, blow off the dust and loosen up the rusty joints, it's been way too long. Should be a good time, thanks for posting Dougie.
  11. Date? Never mind, I just saw it on the secondary subject line. Fyi, that line of the doesn't come through on email alerts.
  12. There is Witch Creek, Odiorne Point State Park (fee to park in summer months, ample parking). Rt 1A, Rye, NH. Also I should mention the small parking area on the other side of the bridge, if you are tempted beware of high tide... it fills a considerable portion of the lot (although this is my preference, the closer to the road the better).
  13. Posting an email I received if anyone is interested in helping out. www.fastforwardrace.com HI , My name is Richard Berard co-director for Fast forward Race. I received your name from Dane Tullock at REI. They sponsor our triathlons here on the south shore. We would like to know if you may have some members that would be willing to help monitor the swim portion of our Marsh Man Triathlon at Duxbury beach on July 31st 7AM. It is a sprint triathlon so you would be in the water for only about an hour. Kayakers would not be involved with life saving. They will be placed to provide a course guide for the athletes and to assist lifeguards and the harbor master spot any issues. It is exciting to be on the water during the race. You get a birds eye view of the swim that spectators on shore aren’t privy too! We would pay your organization $25 for each kayaker, not to mention they all get a nifty green tee shirt and have a great time. Please let me know if you have interest and how many would attend. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you very much! Richard Berard Fast Forward Race 617-699-1324
  14. Last night was a blast. Trip back was hairy but my escort reassured me and we made pretty good time on an outgoing tide. Good friends, downpours, huge swells & lively seas, a friendly seal, sunshine, mother nature's awesome show all make it a very memorable night.
