  1. My wife's 2002 Jetta does not have rain gutter but under the rubber molding of each door there are two round roof rack connectors that the Jetta roof racks attach to. I can take pictures and post them if you would like. -Jason

Do people expect that we won't be on the lookout for someone with a new Surge.
  3. I think the fit of the shadow 100% depends on your body size/shape. For me the shadow is anything but cavernous, I just sqeek into it and very much enjoy the boat. I wouldn't mind if the aft deck was an inch lower but I love the boat. -Jason
  4. A direct link http://www.kokatat.com/instruction2g1.htm From the page "Store your suit with the zipper completely open except the last four inches. This will help alleviate pressure on the sealing elements. Protect the zipper from being folded sharply, creased or crimped. If hanging the suit, use a thick armed hanger, or hang by the waist, like trousers."
  5. Speeking of VA I will be in VA (near DC) for almost two week for trainning. I was thinking of bringing my boat and attempting to find people to go paddling with. Do you know of a website like this for the VA/DC area? Thanks -Jason
  6. If your going for the hearse you will have to trade in your ocean boat for a WW or surf boat then you should be able to fit it. If are not looking to make that conversion and are keeping your ocean boat you will need one of the ultra stretched Suburban, Hummer or the like to fit your ocean boat into it. I don't think that the ultra stretched vehicle will help your parking I am afraid. As for the speed of the hearse I think that there are upgrades that can be done. Even with the upgrades I don't know if it will ever be a good drag racing and yak hauling device but it should fit a ww boat or two. -Jason
  7. I would be a little skeptical regarding the JIS-7 on these, there was an issue earlier this year with West Marine radios not being up to JIS-7 standards thus they were giving dry bags or allowing returns/refunds if you have one. -Jason
  8. Thank you very much, the link you provided works! There search page doesn't bring up your link, I guess they like providing people the link to the $91 version. I have one on order now. Thanks -Jason
  9. I also just checked, as I am in need of one. I had the same results as Brian. Is there a diffrent link that we should check? http://www.atafa.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv...duct_Code=70P-M Thanks -Jason

Sing would this boat fit me or do you have another recommendation for a WW/Surf boat that might fit me? I was looking at a Pyranha H3 255 but I don't know how it would do in the surf and out of the box I have issues with the guides that connect the back rest adjusters from front of the combing to the back rest, they cut into my legs. Thanks -Jason
  11. >Paula: You're about Sing's size, so I bet he would have some >good recommendations for you. For surfing ideally you want a >flat bottom without a lot of rocker, and hard rails at the >stern. One just sold on eBay for >$150, just two hours from Boston: > >http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT Along with Ebay there are also a few boats up on craigslist too. http://boston.craigslist.org/cgi-bin/searc...y=kayak&cat=sss http://boston.craigslist.org/spo/66113242.html -Jason
  12. Now that ME started the ball rolling how many hours/days will it be before MA, RI, CT etc starts requiring a stickers? I can see our boats having a collage of stickers just such as you would see on a tractor trailers. This just sets a bad precedence. and a short sighted one to boot. -Jason
  13. Pablo sent me an e-mail about an hour ago regarding launching from the Quincy/Boston area. Based on Pablo's email I had proposed City Point Beach to launch.from, does that work for you?
  14. is anyone have a trip planned for tomorrow? I'd love to join if there's room. Thanks, -Jason
  15. Christopher I would be very intrested in the extra pool time. Thanks -Jason
  16. I was wondering if anybody is planning a Presidents' day paddle? I now have my dry suit and would like to get back out on the water. Please let me know if you up for another paddler. Thanks -Jason
  17. What happens if you let the phone get cold and put a warm battery in it? You can test this at home with leaving the phone in the freezer and the battery on the counter. And if that works you can do the inverse to test a warm phone and a cold battery. -Jason
  18. >>..."Approximately 4,000 licensed Maine guides". >> >>At $82.00 each that's a nice piece of change (about >>$300-$400m annually). > >$82 times 4000 is $328,000 and while none of us would turn >down such a check it isn't alot of money in a state budget. The other question is what did it cost the state to earn the $328,000? I am sure the net will be much less.
  19. Base on your response I guess I will have to look at one of the other hoods listed in the thread. Thanks -Jason

  21. I tend to agree Kayaks should be bound by the same rulese as other boats. The question is should the other boaters be required to use PFD's or should the kayak rules be relaxed. -Jason
  22. I was thinking of getting a foot pump installed as my boat is being built, I currently have a Nigel Foster Shadow on order http://www.fosterkayaks.com/Product_Shadow.htm (Made by Seaward). While making the boat Seaward will install the front bulkhead based my leg length + the pump depth. They will install the pump to suck the water off from the floor and discharge though the deck. Beside the pump will be built out with close cell foam for my foot rests. The pump that they use is a Bosworth Guzzler 400 with a soft return spring and a Direct action lever. http://thebosworthco.com/pumps_3.htm As part of my research I found that parts of Australia require hands free pumps http://www.jervisbaykayaks.com/PUMPS_JBK%2...MP%20SYSTEM.htm I do realize that this will effect any possible resale value since the boat will be custom sized for me. As I don't plan on parting with the boat this won't effect my decision. I have heard some comment that people have heard (2nd hand) that the pump adversely effects the balance of the boat or that they tend to leak. But on the other hand I have seen some positive reviews of foot pumps. Thus I am not sure if I should have it installed or not. http://www.seakayakermag.com/2003/03Feb/pump01.htm http://www.loup-garou.net/pump.html Thanks in advance -Jason
  23. I would like to join part or all of the trip. Please count me in. Thanks -Jason
  24. I very much like how you protected the red boat, you have quite a few good Idea's I am going to definetly copy your "Paddle Re-entry protection" http://community.webshots.com/photo/74165007/209435033zjFdNO Thanks -Jason
  25. I have been looking at different options of ways to make my boat more visible, (Once it makes it down from CA intact but thats for another day). In my searches I have found a few different location with different products to make my boat more viable. http://www.identi-tape.com/hi-intensity.htm http://www.peak.org/~moco/ or more specifically the conspicuity tape http://www.peak.org/~moco/conspicuity.html My ideal would be to find something that is very reflective and also glows in the dark like a remote control or clock dial. -Jason
