  1. Anyone interested in selling their Surge Sea Kayak (built by Surge Marine in Maine)?
  2. Picasa is another web hosting site for photos (a google product). Both windows and mac friendly. http://picasa.google.com/
  3. Thanks for the info. From what I have read it sounds like an amazing place to visit. I'll make it a point to pick up an issue of the magazine.
  4. Anyone have info/experiences to share about a trip to this area? I've researched it and it sounds intriquing - limestone monoliths, lots of marine life and beautiful views. I would like to go this summer and would appreciate any info folks are willing to share. Thanks in advance.

That makes it $150/per person for the week. Full payment due to reserve your spot. The cabin is located on Mill Pond in Vinalhaven. 6. If you are thinking of any type of travel, invest in the four piece paddle. I have a carbon fiber two piece paddle that I've used for about four years with a bent shaft and bought an inexpensive four piece paddle (aquabound flair) for travel with my folding kayak. After a trip to the Exumas and a trip to BC, I decided no more - too much of a chore paddling with a heavy straight shaft. Took the plunge and bought a Lendel last December. Took it on my trip to Culebra last month and loved it! I went with the carbon bent shaft and the Carbon Reinforced Nylon blades. Bought it at KTP. Rutabaga.com in Wisconsin sells Lendel at a competitive price and once in a while they are for sale on ebay.
  7. I like the nylon pogies - I've been using them for about three years. The advantage is that they keep my hands dry but not too hot like the neoprene. I can choose different glove/mitten lines according to temperature.
  8. I stayed there a few years ago - nice, clean, friendly. Rooms are small, but with all the outdoors there you won't be spending much time inside.
  9. A few years ago I went with friends on a trip to the St Lawrence/Saguenay Rivers. Stayed at Paradis Marin Campground in Bergeron. Lucky enough to view a steady parade of whales from sunrise to sunset. The water there is very cold - even in August - I had my wet suit, but if I were to go again, I would bring my dry suit. Kayak rentals in the area - How's your French? http://www.fjord-best.com/azimut/index.htm Campground link http://www.paradismarin.com/pages/paradispag.html Whales on line link - click on the binoculars for a map with daily whale sightings http://www.whales-online.net/eng/FSC.html?sct=0&pag=0 Enjoy your trip.
  10. I spent a week there last summer with some friends and the paddling there is incredible. We had our share of fog the beginning of the week, but we made up for it with some wonderful paddling trips. This was my second time at Great Wass...The first time we camped a few days in Jonesport, the second time we rented a cottage on the water. There are plenty of trips from the area, circumnavigating the island around Red Head, out to Stevens Is, Fishermen's Is, Mistake Is, and more. Don't miss the Cow Yard. Definitely a must do.
  11. I'm planning a trip here in April and would love some company. Here's a web site with some info http://welcome.topuertorico.org/city/culebra.shtml If you have travelled to this area, I'd love to hear about your trip and any suggestions you may have. American Airlines flies non-stop to San Juan out of Boston, less than 4 hours. Flying Tuesday to Tuesday flights are $311 RT. Public transport to ferry is about $15 each way. Ferry to Culebra is about $5 roundtrip. Car rental on island is $45/day...if you don't want to take public transportation once there. Lots of lodging options from campground with services on beach $20/site/night for six people to villa/cottage rental on/near water/beach. Please post if interested. Thanks.
