  1. The links seems to stop at filling out the PA Thanks, JK
  2. Thanks. What you did was great. Someone claimed the Keowee. I'm just thing ahead for other things that may come up. Thanks again.
  3. Hi Carl, I'm going to try and make it ... but obviously don't wait! Is there only one spot to put-in? I wasn't sure from your posting whether you were going to be in the State Park or if there was another spot near a bridge. Thanks, John King
  4. Thanks Ed! This will help a lot.
  5. I'm hoping someone out there can me help out. I'm "organizing" a trip to the Stonington, Maine, area for myself and three friends, and I need some advice. One in my group belongs to MITA, but I'm looking for some 'local' knowledge. I'm looking to establish a camp the first (Friday) afternoon/evening ... and use that spot as a base to explore islands in the area over the next 2.5 days, returning Monday. The first day could include a paddle of up to 3 hours tops, though I'm not against camping ocean-side on the mainland someplace and exploring from there. The lowest skill level in the group is a 3 ... so an all night paddle to Acadia is out of the question! . Let me thank you all in advance ... if only for taking the time to read this post. Hope you're all haveing a great summer ... we've waited long enough for it to appear. John King
  6. I was able to take make in Scott's trip this past weekend, and had a great time. So a big thanks you Scott, Kevin, Carl and everyone involved. But I wanted to add something extra. My personal life and demands have prevented me from becoming as fully involved with the club as I'd like. I've actually taken the leadership training twice - but have never been able to take part in "disaster day", and thereby complete the training. (Once I did make it to the beach the morning of the session - only to be called away by family emergency). But you know ... there are just so many days and hours in a week/lifetime to devote to family and the many great activities available. So we all have to pick and choose. To new members - I've been on the "edges" of the club for more than 4 years now ... coming in just before Bob shifted to the left ... yet whenever I am able to pop in for a paddle I've felt totally welcome. This is a fabulous group of people. And not everyone is a tech-head! - its there is you want it, but not required "reading". To veteran members - I want to say thanks! It's your willingness to continually share knowledge and experience with ALL levels of paddler that makes this club so different. My only regret is that I have not been able to do more. Regards to all - and hope to see you one the water … or hiking, or biking, or skiing, or blading, or running … or at a bar someplace!, Keep up the great work - and thanks so much. John King
  7. The parking behind the police station is free and public. In fact about a month ago, while loading our boats, we had a great conversation with a Sgt. who was out on patrol and happened to drive into the lot. Turns out he's a kayaker as well. I've never had a problem parking there - though it can get crowded late morning and afternoon. Good Luck. John King
  8. Any sugestions for a first time camping trip? I'm looking to head north of Mass., less than three hours drive from the N shore ... preferably an island within an hour or so paddle. I've plenty of camping experience (hiking and canoeing) ... looking to incorporate the kayak. If anyone knows its people in this club. Thanks in advance for the help. John King jking0360@comcast.net
